When the bowel functions normally, nerves tell certain muscles when to tense up and when to relax. These nerve and muscle processes allow feces to be removed when you want it to. When these functions are not working correctly you can be caused a lot of discomfort and frustration when trying to go.

Bowel problems often originate with nerve or muscle dysfunction, as these systems control the release of stool. Other health issues that may cause bowel dysfunction, include medicinal side effects, stress, neurological diseases, diabetes, hemorrhoids and pelvic floor disorders.
There are many ways to treat bowel dysfunction, but treatments usually depend on the state of the patient and type of dysfunction they are experiencing. A combination of of treatments are often used to treat bowel dysfunction in order to see the greatest improvement. Some of the treatments we offer include biofeedback, manual therapies (STM/MFR), colonic massage as well as education on the subject in order to understand what is going on and how to fix it.
